Closing the AI overhang gap

There’s what AI can do. And then there’s how most people actually use it.
AI tools are already powerful (more so every day!!) but most teams are only scratching the surface. This difference between the possibility and everyday reality for AI is what my friend Brian Solis refers to as “AI overhang.”
Here’s what can help you close that gap.
1. Explore what is possible.
If you stay inside your company or even your industry, you’ll miss it. Look at what others are doing. Pay attention to people pushing the edges. You might be surprised by what you find.
2. Experiment with the tools.
Take a low stakes task and see what AI can do with it. Use your own personal Claude or ChatGPT account, and push it a bit. You’ll start to see it can do more than you expected.
3. Start small.
Fixing AI overhang doesn’t mean you need to do everything all at once. Get something live, learn from it, and build from there.
The gap isn’t going away.
AI is getting better each day. Learning how to leverage it has become an ongoing part of work. Where do you see this gap right now? What’s helping you make it smaller?
