Lots of IT pros fall hard for the powerful ServiceNow platform, but efforts to get business partners interested can tough, no matter how many YouTube videos and case studies you share with them about what other companies are achieving.
You can see how the streamlined workflows would make their lives easier, how the self service and idea management tools would make your life easier, and how getting more data in one place would accelerate your company's AI roadmap. But they accuse you of drinking the Kool Aid and not really understanding how the business works.
How can you get aligned? Here are three proven tools and techniques you can try at your company today:
Design thinking workshops: These powerful sessions mix up team members from across the business with IT teams to discover opportunities to grow your business, create better customer and employee experiences and collaborate better. The outputs can seed your roadmap and uncover opportunities for further exploration.
Pro tip: Put your shared customer in the center of the discussion to see cross-departmental walls fall and cooperation accelerate.
Stakeholder interviewers: These empathetic 1:1 sessions focus on discovery and listening. Uncover new ideas and concerns while growing trust and preparing your organization for change. Lots of times people will share risks to your project that can save you lots of pain down the line. You have 2 ears and one mouth - use them! Pro tip: Put together a guide for these discussions, but don't be too rigid. Many times the best insights come from pulling a thread.
Reverse demos: Often done in conjunction with stakeholder interviews, this secret weapon is a way for your colleagues to "show, not tell" what they are dealing with to get their work done today. The interviewee becomes the presenter, and shares their screen, conferences you into calls, and otherwise helps you understand "a dayin the life" of how key tasks get completed. This exercise is sure to get ideas going for how to make things better with ServiceNow's powerful tools.
Pro tip: Even if you're in person, record these demos if you can. Many times they are roadmap gold and can help seed epics and user storires. Just make sure you're handling any PII appropriately!
I hope these tools help you further unlock the value of ServiceNow in your company.
